Welcome! Let’s Whisk Up Family Memories One Recipe at a Time

Whisking Up Wonder: Family Recipes and Cooking with Kids

Hey there, friend! Welcome to Whisking Up Wonder, where the kitchen is always full of laughter, a bit of mess, and something delicious in the oven. Whether you’re here to spark your little ones’ interest in cooking or to find cherished family recipes to pass down, you’re in the right place.

Cooking has always been at the heart of my family. Some of my best memories are from the kitchen, like watching my grandmother mix ingredients in her giant metal bowls, which my brother and I would climb into. My grandmother, who owned a restaurant and catering business, inspired my love for food and family traditions—memories I now hope to pass down to my children, grandchildren, and to you.

Fun Fact: One day, while my mom picked me up from my grandmother’s kitchen, she found me sucking on a pig’s foot cooked in pasta sauce. That was my first and last experience with pig’s feet! While I might not have a recipe for pig’s feet, I do have plenty of other family favorites to share.

Why I Created Whisking Up Wonder: A Family Cooking Journey

Cooking is one of the few activities that brings everyone together, regardless of age. As a mother of six daughters, three bonus kids, and a proud grandmother, our kitchen is always buzzing with activity. From toddler spills to teenage culinary triumphs, cooking with kids creates family connections. By involving my kids in cooking, they’ve come to appreciate the meals they help make. It’s more than just food—it’s about teaching life skills, building family traditions, and creating memories through every recipe.

My mission is to prepare my children to leave home with not only the basic cooking skills but also a collection of family recipes passed down from generations, even from relatives they’ve never met. While I grew up watching my mother and grandmother cook, I didn’t often cook with them. I want my kids and bonus kids to feel confident in the kitchen, equipped to make meals for themselves and share those recipes with friends and future families.

The Joy of Cooking with Kids: Creating Memories That Last a Lifetime

The magic of cooking together is that it’s never too early—or too late—to start. Whether your toddler is splashing in the sink washing veggies or your teen is tackling a full recipe, everyone has a place in the kitchen. This time spent together builds not only cooking skills but also strong family bonds.
