Boo-tiful Halloween Pizza Ingredients

Bread Flour – Forms the base of the dough, providing structure and chewiness.

Instant Yeast – Leavens the dough, making it rise and creating a light, airy texture.

Salt – Enhances the flavor of the crust.

Lukewarm Water – Combines with yeast to activate and hydrate the dough ingredients. Using warm water really helps the yeast get moving, you’ll be amazed at how quickly this dough gets rising!

Olive Oil – Adds moisture, flavor, and helps in achieving a crisp crust.

Salt & Pepper – Adds seasoning to balance the flavors of the crust.

Fresh Minced Garlic – Provides a hint of aromatic, savory flavor in the crust. Save yourself some time and use garlic minced in a jar!

Marinara Sauce – The base layer of sauce on the pizza, providing tangy and rich tomato flavor. I use whatever sauce is on sale usually, and if we are being really honest I always go for the store brands!

Mozzarella Cheese – Sliced and shaped into ghosts, it melts into a stretchy, creamy topping. We used the pre sliced version from Costco and it worked really well!

Black Olives – Sliced to resemble spiders, adding a briny, savory taste.

Mushrooms – Shaped into skulls, these add earthy flavor and texture.

Optional: Pepperoni, Bell Peppers, Onions, Basil – Additional toppings for variety, flavor, and color.

A Versatile Focaccia Dough: More Than Just Pizza

The pizza dough in this recipe is a basic focaccia bread, known for its light, airy texture and crispy edges. I bet you thought making bread was hard (I used to also), just sit back, watch it rise and be impressed you’re making bread!

Focaccia pizza dough in a cast iron pan with bowls of pizza sauce, minced garlic, and mushrooms carved like skulls. The image highlights the Halloween-themed toppings and versatile use of cast iron for cooking.

Did you spot that sleek cast iron pan in the photos? Cooking with cast iron has many benefits, especially for homemade pizzas. It evenly distributes heat for a perfectly crisp crust and can transition seamlessly from stovetop to oven, making it ideal for various recipes. Plus, cast iron is durable enough to last decades with proper care and even adds a small amount of iron to your food. I recently started using a set I had stored away, and it’s quickly become my go-to. Curious to learn more about cast iron? Drop a comment, and I’d be happy to share tips!
